Three Women Take Schenectady Casino to Court - Casino Reports

Three Schenectady women have decided to take a local casino property to court over alleged assault earlier this year. Takeylyn Gibson and her twin daughters, Tajhanae and Tahziana Gibson claim that they were verbally and physically abused by several security guards of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady. The three are now seeking financial compensation over damages.

According to court documents, which were filed on Monday, July 25, 2022, by Schenectady attorney Daniel Smalls, state the alleged incident occurred on May 22, 2022, at the casino. Capital Region Gaming LLC has been confirmed as a defendant for the trial, and it will represent the commercial casino and its five security officers, whose names remain unidentified.

Court Documents Revealed

The submitted legal paperwork states and claims that the five uniformed security guards have verbally and physically abused Ms. Gibson and her two daughters. The guards have allegedly committed assault and battery, thus inflicting severe personal injury and serious bodily harm to the three. Documents also suggest that the guards intentionally touched the women in a hostile and offensive manner.

Court documents continue by stating the action of the five officers was deliberate, unwarranted, and without provocation. Their conduct was intentionally and recklessly extreme, shocking, outrageous, and in disregard for the women’s safety, say files. The casino was accused that it was negligent in its duty to protect the three patrons and failing to properly train and supervise its personnel.

Mr. Smalls shared some details of the incident on Monday at the Supreme Court in Schenectady County. The lawyer explained that the women were enjoying an evening at the casino and then went home to get more money. Upon returning, one of the guards recognized them and waved them over to his entry lane. However, the daughters preferred to stay at the other checkpoint with their mother.

In his words, there is a cellphone video footage of the incident, in which it can be seen how the security officer becomes annoyed. He then argued with a second guard, and then came over and pushed the daughter to the ground. The mother who has tried to interfere was also thrown to the floor. The lawyer said that they suffered cuts and scrapes but the damage was mostly psychological.
