OLG to Recruit Individuals for Its Sault Ste. Marie Office - Casino Reports

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation continues to provide numerous opportunities in the sector, as it recently announced its plans to host a two-day online job fair. The plan is to recruit talented individuals and fill up over 59 positions for its main office at Sault Ste. Marie. This week, candidates will be able to apply for over 43 different positions.

The OLG is a state-run agency that oversees all land-based gambling operations, including commercial casinos and charitable gaming in Ontario. It also supervises all retail and online lottery opportunities in the province. All of its proceeds from its gaming activities are reinvested in the province, as the money supports education, healthcare, charities, and more.

A Two-Day Fair

The online career fair will be hosted this week on April 27 and April 28, 2022, and candidates will be able to apply to over 43 different roles. The positions are in the following areas: Lottery and Customer Care, Finance and Enterprise Analytics, Digital Enterprise Strategy, Enterprise Technology, Risk and Audit, and last but not least People and Culture.

In order to fill the said positions, the Crown agency offers competitive compensation packages, which will surely attract applicants to the online event. During the two-day fair, interested candidates will be able to connect and learn about OLG leaders. Applicants are encouraged to book their 15-minute one-on-one interviews for the preferred role at OLG SSM Career Fair.

Nancy Kennedy, OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture, said that the Crown agency has deep roots in Sault Ste. Marie, as it has been part of the local community for over 30 years. In her opinion, the organization’s operations are of utmost importance for the community, both in present and in the future. She explains that the OLG wants to build an inclusive and performance-driven workplace in the city.

Besides career opportunities, the online job fair will also showcase the City of Sault Ste. Marie to demonstrate the benefits of living and working in this vast community, which is the home of the OLG’s main office. The Crown also informs that it will offer relocation support to help with a move to the city for candidates that have been approved.

Allocations Rolled Out

Currently, the OLG has Municipality Contribution Agreements to share gaming revenue with host communities of brick-and-mortar casino properties. Last week, the Crown corporation started to issue its quarterly payments to numerous municipalities. For instance, for Q4 of 2021-2022, the City of Niagara Falls received CA$2.9 million for the hosting of Casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort in the region.

The Windsor, which is the home of Caesars Windsor Casino has also obtained its share for the last quarter of last year. The sum amounted to CA$1,010,143. In addition to that, the Crown has also sanctioned payments to Chatham-Kent and Greater Sudbury. The two municipalities received respectively CA$255,748 and CA$285,000 for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham and Gateway Casinos Sudbury.
