GLMS Joins Ontario as the First Integrity Body - Casino Reports

This week, Ontario welcomes one more gaming entity to its recently regulated online sports betting and casino market. Global Lottery Monitoring System has now made its way into the jurisdiction after its application has been greenlit by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Via the entry, the association will support the OLG in its sports betting integrity efforts.

GLMS is a non-profit organization that advocates and fights for sports betting integrity while battling the manipulation of sports competitions. The company received its regulatory approval from the provincial regulator on April 3, 2022, just a day before the official opening of the market. Thus, helping out protect sports betting integrity in the region.

Working for a Safer Market

With its Ontario license, GLMS will continue to support its member the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, and their sports wagering integrity activity in the new market. The association does not offer sports betting or lottery verticals, but instead the entity provides its members such as the Crown corporation with various services including monitoring and education services.

Through its services, the association puts efforts into raising awareness of and fighting the manipulation of sports games. Therefore, supporting inter-jurisdictional and inter-stakeholder cooperation activities to help deal with the global issue. So far, the GLMS and AGCO have enjoyed seamless cooperation, and the organization has provided its perspective to the regulator, in order to develop Registrar’s standards for gaming.

Chief Land-Based Gaming and Business Development Officer for the OLG, Lori Sullivan, who is also a member of GLMS’ Executive Committee, said that the Crown is proud to work with the association. According to her, the OLG is more than happy to collaborate with the GLMS and its partners to ensure a safe and secure market for online and retail sports.

President of the GLMS, Ludovico Calvi, commented that he is proud to have the association become one of the first registered integrity entities to acquire an Ontario license by the AGCO. In his words, the organization has been a major advocate for a regulated, responsible, and sustainable wagering environment, as bans have prevented the proliferation of black markets, criminal organizations, and game-fixing.
